Tiaan Bekker back on Top with Victory at Royal Durban in June

 

Diyashil Chetty continued his form over the last month making 2 Birdies and 4 Pars in a row to leave him at -1 (19 Points) for the back nine coming to the halfway stage. Aswhin Ramchand played well with 6 Pars to tie for the lead before starting the second nine. Tiaan Bekker within catching distance, making birdie on the 18th to join the leaders in a 3 way tie for the lead on -1. 

 

Playing in the second last fourball, Craig van Dijk started his front nine with a birdie on the short Par 4 where they moved the tee box up to 255m from the green.  The Par 4 – 9th hole at Royal as in many events cost players a Tournament featuring  Out of Bounce on the right, it showed again with 5 players out of 16 making double bogey after hitting it right. With 3 players taking the clubhouse lead on 35 points Tiaan came up to the 8th hole knowing that only making bogey meant keeping him at -2 for the day, Tiaan hit his tee shot to the left to leave him a short iron in and walking off with a net par.. The ninth was looming as this is the hole that he always battles on. Knowing he just needs to hit the fairway Tiaan took 5 Iron and hit it right OB after the ball bounced off the flood lights for the horse track. Tiaan became the 5 player to make zero points on this hole.

 

Tiaan Bekker after making zero point dropped him back to even par (36 points) to take the win at Royal Durban.
