Kerrow O’Connell Best player in Challenge conditions at Sunday Series2 Opener!

The 2021 Sunday #Series2 Season Tee’ed off on Sunday the 24th of January at ERPM.

ERPM hosted the start of the Sunday #Series2 Tour Calendar, the 3rd Event in the space of 7 days. The challenge for the day was the weather conditions, this time around the perfect sunny conditions was which the players enjoyed at Killarney and Copperleaf was swapped out for difficult winds, occasional rain, and deep rough. A field of 91 players gathered at ERPM and teed off the 1st and 10th tees to accumulate as many Individual Stableford points as possible in the hope to walk away with the Victory at the end of 18 holes.

The 2021 Season will feature 11 Events at Golf Courses in and around Gauteng including 4 qualifying Majors. 10 out of 11 scores will count towards the final Individual Stableford points Total giving players the leeway to have their lowest score fall away or miss an event.

As the day and scoring progressed a handful of players managed to stay in the Red numbers but ultimately only one player managed to break his handicap and finish under Par. The honours belonged to Kerrow O’Connell making only his 3rd start of the Season. Playing off his 23 handicap Kerrrow carded a round of -2 (38 points) to take his first career Duckhook Title.

Starting on the 10th Tee Kerrow accumulated 18 points including 3 point Pars on the Par 5 – 13th and Par 4 – 16th. Chasing the Leaders on his 2nd nine Kerrow moved to -1 after 3 points on the Par 5 – 2nd followed by another 3 points on the Stroke 1, Par 4 – 3rd to reach -2 with 6 holes to play. As the weather swirled around the course for the 2nd time scoring became even more difficult and resulted him dropping a shot on the Par 3 – 5th and the Par 3 – 7th to return to the pack at Even. A much welcome Par on the Par 4 – 8th moved him back to -1 and a final 3 points on the 9th hole returned him to -2 to take the Victory by 2 shots over Aldo Fourie on Even Par.

Kerrow earns himself 550 Player Ranking points, 1000 Duckhook Credits and an automatic entry into the Masters, the 1st Major of the Season.
