Jaco Jacobs comes out on Top in 18 Hole Play Off to become 2022 Players Champion!

The 3rd Major of the Season took place at The Eye of Africa on Friday the 30th of September.

The closing stages of the Major saw any one of Rhyan Jeanson, Jaco Jacobs or Grant Nel be in contention. Jaco Jacobs set the Club House lead on -3 after an outstanding finish of Eagle on the Par 5 – 17th for four points followed by a Birdie and 3 points! Rhyan Jeanson who held the lead for most of the Tournament unfortunately found the righthand rough on the final Par 4 – 18th resulting in a Double Bogey which would see him relinquish the lead and drop to -2. Grant Nel would also have a say with an incredible late charge to finish with 3 Birdies in a row, starting on the Par 3 – 16th then the Par 5 – 17th and more impressively the Par 4 – 18th ranked as the hardest hole on the course to also finish at -3!

The customary fashion to determine the Champion would be with a Play off until there is a winner, but this time round the sun had already begun setting and the Play off reconsidered. Jaco and Grant ultimately decided on a 18 hole play off at South Downs in 2 Days in the Sunday #2 Event. A first of its kind on the Duckhook Tour.

At the end of the day Jaco kept Grant at bay to take the Win on the 17th hole to take a 3&1 Victory and secure his 1st Major Win.

In addition to Jaco’s win he takes with him 850 Player Ranking points, Exemption to the next 4 Majors and an Magnificent prize of a 2 night stay at Champagne Sports Resorts for 4 Golfers!
