The 9th Edition of the 36 Hole Challenge500 took place at Ruimsig Country Club on Friday the 9th of September.

The Tournament is a test of endurance to see which golfers best navigate a long day of golf. The 1st Round is played off the White Club Tees then the 2nd Round is played of the Blue Senior Tees, with the players using their average handicap from the two tees on the day.

Playing the 2nd round off the shorter Tees gives the competitors the opportunity to potentially score more points and go going lower by having a better understanding of course management, the pace of the putting greens and lines.

This years Tournament came down to the last 2 Putts of the day to decide a 3 man play-off!

Gerhard Snyman was the first to set the club house lead and target on -4 (79 points) and had to wait for the final fourball to finish on the Par 5 – 9th Hole. 

Gerhard Gerber went on to make a massive 15 meter putt for Birdie to jump from -2 to -4 to setup a play-off. Godfried Watermeyer had the opportunity to make Birdie to leap both Gerhard’s and take the Victory but unfortunately his long Birdie effort would lip out meaning he would be the 3rd player into the play-0ff.

The Par 4 – 10th would be the play-off hole. Godfried continued his momentum to be the only player of the 3 to make a Par and take the Title of 36 Hole Champion.

Godfried Victory included a Free Entry and Tour to the Duckhook Classic Tour at Highland Gate in October!
