The April Durban Duckhook Series Event took place at Umdoni Golf Club on Sunday the 10th of April.
18 Players braved a wet and cold morning at Umdoni Golf Club. The weather was not looking great but the players were looking to get that final entry into the first major of the year, The Durban Masters.
Players went off the first and 10th to see if we could get a full round in. Starting off strong was Hayden Stone making 2 birdies on the front nine leaving him on 20 points at halfway. A small drizzle started to fall at Umdoni where players were enjoying a hot half way house before going out again for the second nine.
The second nine started off bad for everybody as the heavens opened up with constant rain falling. The players continued playing to get the second nine in with greens making it impossible to putt on. Gawie Botha playing in his first season with Duckhook carded seven 2 pointers to quickly take the club house lead. Playing in the second last fourball Hayden battled to keep the lead and finish in 4th place. Tiaan needed to make eagle or better on the 18th to tie for the lead but pulled his tee shot into the rough on the left and needed to take a drop.
