Sunthosh Balchund edges out Manav Sachdeva to Win February Durban Event!

The 2nd event of the 2022 Duckhook Golfers Durban Series took place on Sunday the 13th of February at Selborne Golf Club.

The 2022 Season is made up of 11 Events from January to November, all taking place at a different golf club to test the player’s skills over 11 months. The Series leaderboard will be determined by the most Individual Stableford Points earned over the 11 Events, with the luxury of 10 out of the 11 scores counting towards the final tally. Allowing a player to miss an event or the worst score falling out to still fight for the Title.

A warm sunny day greeted 24 players at Selborne golf club. Kobus Nel, our first event champion, was starting the day off in great fashion with a birdie on the first hole and then making another birdie on the 3rd hole. Playing his consistent golf as what we have seen over the years he dropped back to +2 at halfway house.

Shane Skinner playing in only his 3rd event took the lead after making back to back birdies on hole 5 and hole 6 coming to the 9th hole stroke 1 where he pushed his drive out of bounce dropping him 2 shots. Hayden Stone was putting on pressure with great golf making 4 pars in a row on the front nine. His driver started to let him down on the final few holes and dropped a few shots coming in T3 for the day.

Suntosh Balchand and Manav Sachdeva were playing the most consistent golf of the day where the heat was taking its toll on the other players. Suntosh needed to par the last hole to win the day and made a bogey, dropping him back to share the lead with Manav. Manav birdied the last hole to get to even par to share the lead with Suntosh.

Suntosh won the day on a count back after going back to the stroke one where he made bogey and manav made double bogey.
