The first event of the new season was held at Kloof Country club. 25 Players signed up for the day to compete in the Season opener. The players were greeted with a course in great condition with all the rain. The field was split over a two tee start.
 
Playing in the last four ball of the day Kobus Nel got off to a fast start making 2 birdies in his first four holes making 19 points on the front nine leaving him 1 behind after Suntosh Balchand who had 20 points. Diyashil Chetty playing in his first event since Umhlali last year played consistently on the back nine making up ground with 2 birdies and 2 pars on the last holes coming in.
 
Hayden Stone making 5 Pars on the back nine was the early clubhouse lead on  +1 (35 Points). Kobus played great golf scrambling on the 12th hole after he found some tree trouble and needed to chip out sideways. He made par on this hole after chipping in from behind the green. Coming to the last hole Kobus just needed to make bogey to secure the win. He eventually made a double Bogey and won on the count out on the front nine after making 19 points and Hayden Stone made 16 points.
 
Well done to Kobus for winning the first event of the season.

Kloof was the the 1st of 4 Qualifying rounds for the Masters to be played on Sunday 8th May.
