Jamie Sherry bags 1st Victory on Thursday Series at Copperleaf on -5

The 2021 Thursday #Series Season Tee’ed off on Thursday the 21st of January at Copperleaf.

It was the turn of the Thursday Series to get underway at Copperleaf – Els Club. A large field of 75 golfers eagerly gathered on a perfect morning for competitive golf. The Estate course showing off its pristine fairways and gleaming greens during the early morning sunrise. 

The 2021 Season will feature 11 Events at Golf Courses in and around Gauteng including 4 qualifying Majors. 10 out of 11 scores will count towards the final Individual Stableford points Total giving players the leeway to have their lowest score fall away or miss an event.

Jamie Sherry made a return to the Duckhook community in 2021 and started the Season with a Victory on -5 (41 points), his first every win on the Duckhook Tour. Playing off his 13 handicap Jamie got  his round started on the front nine with two consecutive 3 point Pars to set the pace on -2. Two more back to back Pars on the Par 5 – 4th and Par 3 – 6th earned him another couple of 3 points Pars to double is lead to -4 after 5 holes! Jamies only Birdie of the day came on the Par 4 – 7th to now take him to -5, a perfect start if every you wanted one. A double Bogey on the Par 5 – 8th put the breaks on his scoring reaching the halfway stage on -3 (21 points)

Moving onto the back nine Jamie continued his pattern of consecutive Pars, this time on the Par 5 – 11th and Par 4 – 12th making up the two shots he lost to move back to -5. A final 5 point Par on the Par 5 – 15th summited the Live Scoring on -6 but a dropped shot on the Par 3 – 17th saw him complete his round on -5 (41 points) taking the Victory by 2 shots over 2nd place Ruben Swart, and third place shared by Andre Kotze, Erwee Botha and Leon Oosthuizen on -2.

Jamie earns himself 550 Player Ranking points, 800 Duckhook Credits and an automatic entry into the Masters, the 1st Major of the Season.
