Wayne Jeanson Start 2021 Season with 1st Victory in 4 Years!

The 2021 Sunday #Series1 Season Tee’ed off on Sunday the 17th of January at Killarney Country Club.

The build up and hype to the 1st event of the Series culminated at Killarney, with 98 Players eager to get their competitive juices going. With the weather perfect and the sun blazing, the atmosphere around Killarney’s Putting green and Driving range was abuzz with the community of Ducks gathering for the first time in over 5 weeks!

The 2021 Season will feature 11 Events at Golf Courses in and around Gauteng including 4 qualifying Majors. 10 out of 11 scores will count towards the final Individual Stableford points Total giving players the leeway to have their lowest score fall away or miss an event.

The day belonged to Wayne Jeanson, returning after the December break with a lot of practice under his belt and confidence looking for a fresh start to the season. Playing off his 10 handicap, Wayne started on the 1st tee. His first shot of the Season saw his drive not going more than 50 meters resulting in a Double Bogey blackout. He quickly bounced back with three consecutive Pars on the Par 4 – 2nd and Par 4 – 3rd and Par 3 – 4th to claw his way back to Even Par. Wayne went on to make his 1st of 5 Birdies on the Par 5 – 5th after sinking a long putt for another 3 pointer to take his score into the Red numbers on -1. “I could feel my putter was going to be hot, so i focused on making Pars.” Wayne reached the halfway mark on -3, after carding a 4-point Birdie on the short Par 4 – 8th.

Moving onto the back nine he continued to make putts adding Birdies on the Par 4 – 10th and Par 4 – 11th, both stroking holes, to earn 4 shots to leap to -7 with with 7 holes to play!  “That was the boost knowing I could finish my round with a decent score and possibly win.” Wayne carded his final 3 point Birdie on the Par 3 – 17th and Par on the Par 4 – 18th to sign for an outstanding -9, 71,  a welcomed return to the Winner’s circle after 4 years. His last Series victory coming in March 2017 at Zwartkop.

Wayne earns himself 550 Player Ranking points, 1000 Duckhook Credits and an automatic entry into the Masters, the 1st Major of the Season.
