Frikkie Barnard – 2020 Duckhook Player of the Season!

The 2020 Race to the Player of the Season had a perfect finish to the Year with the Title coming down to the Final hole of the Season at the Summer Cup!

For the 1st time on the Duckhook Tour the Player Rankings was calculated with the average points earned over the Season instead of Total ranking points earned in the Season. Giving all players the opportunity to compete regardless of which League they took part in as long as the minimum criteria of playing 16 games was reached to be eligible for the Title.

The Race was too tight to call come the end of the Final Major of the Season but once the calculations were completed, it came down to 0,45 of a point in Frikkie Barnard’s favour to seal the 2020 Player of the Season Title,  his 2nd Player’s Title after claiming his first Title in 2017.

Frikkie’s Winning Season included Major point hauls from Victories at the Masters at CCJ which earned him 850 Ranking points. A Sunday League Title in #Series1 at Germiston earning him 550 ranking points and a runner up finish in the Team Match Play Tournament adding another 450 ranking points to his 3352,94 Total at a Final average of 128,16.

Lukie Jansen took 2nd position on an average of 127,71 on 2824,92 Final points separating his season campaign from Frikkie. Lukie’s season included his first Major Victory at The Open to earn 850 ranking points and a Thursday League Victory at Houghton in June to earn 550 points for a Total points of 2824,92.

The Moment of the Season Award was contested between, Frikkie Barnard (Masters Win), Lukie Jansen (Open Win), Gideon Richter (Claiming 2 League Victories back to back), Clint Broaders (Hole in One at Woodmead), Leon Oosthuizen (2020 Classic Champion), Dhana Perumal (Challenge500 Winner) Team Steady Eddie’s Jason and Eddie Ivins (2020 Team Match Play Champions) and Danie Geldenhuys (#Series1 Champion).

Voted for by the Duckhook Community the Moment of the Season went to  Team Steady Eddie for prevailing over 39 other Team to take the Title over the year long Tournament.

The Players’ Player of the Season voted for by fellow players went to the player with a great attitude towards in the sport, a great competitor, who upholds fair play, and an all round awesome guy.  Lukie Jansen took the Honours after a Season of many Highlights.

With the 2020 Duckhook Season officially closed we look forward to welcoming the Start of the 2021 Season on Sunday the 17th of January, where the Tour starts again at Killarney Golf Club. The 2021 Calendar includes 40 Tournaments!
