Andrew Broughton comes out on Top of Epic battle to Win at The Lakes

Sunday morning the 20 September 2020 the 6th round of the Durban Duckhook League was hosted at Mount Edgecombe – The lakes. Spring was in the air in Durban with temperature going up to 30 degrees, 11 Players committed to take on the challenging course at the Lakes.
Spring treatment was done the week before and the greens were a bit slow for Mount Edgecombe standards. Going off in the second fourball of the day, Andrew Broughton played from a 20 handicap and Jack Lamp (9) was going head to head in what will be a day not to be forgotten. Jack turned at half way in the lead at -2 under his handicap with Andrew at -1 with a lot of golf to play.
Jack made a double drop on the 10Th hole and Andrew made a net birdie to move him into the lead. The two players went head to head trading first and second place up until the 16th hole where Jack took the lead again at -1 under his handicap. The Par 3 17th Andrew was 1 shot behind with a tricky hole that was playing 151m from the club tees. Jack played first and hit a smooth 5 iron into the wind and landed at the back of the green setting him up for a sure PAR on the hole. Andrew playing to his strengths on the day was shot off the green with a difficult up and down. Andrew made a net PAR and jack made PAR to keep him in the lead.
18th Hole was a Par 5 and Jack stepped up and hit the middle of the fairway leaving him with roughly 200 to the green. Andrew was not far behind but missed queue his second shot. Jack went for the green and pulled it to the left of the green close to out of bounds. Getting to his ball he did not have a good lie and a missed time shot left him in the bunker. Andrew made another net par to leave him at even for the day. Jack only needed to make a bogey to win the day and suffered another double dropped to leave him at +1 and in second place.
Well played Andrew on winning your first Duckhook event and a entry in the Masters later this year.

The Durban Tour Calendar now features 8 League Events with each Event being played at a Different golf course in and around Durban. Each event will be an Individual Stableford format, requiring players to accumulate points over 18 holes.
The Tour will also feature a season ending Major, the Masters on the 29th of November which will be the first Medal event.
Player Ranking points will be allocated to each finishing position and the player with the most points at the end of the Season will be crowned the Player of the Season.
