July ushers in the 2nd half of the Duckhook Thursday League Season with the 5th Event taking place in the South of Johannesburg at Germiston Golf Club on Thursday the 16th of July.
This Season now feature 9 League Events with 8 of 9 Rounds counting to the over League Standings!
The Ducks braved another cold early morning start on a challenging course with the fairways still covered in ice and the greens hard testing the skills of all the players having to adopt a links like tactics. 54 players Teed it up on the 1st and 10th tees in the quest to score as many Individual Stableford points in 18 holes. Fats Calitz, Ewald van Wyk and Cornell Erasmus were the only three players to finish under par and take up the Top 3 positions on the Live Scoring Leaderboard. Fats and Ewald tied at the Top both finishing on -2, 38 points with the players being separated by a a front nine count back, where Fats accumulating 19 points, 2 more than Ewald.
Fats takes his 6th Career Duckhook League Title with a scorecard which included 3 Birdies and 8 Pars to earn an automatic entry into the Masters and also taking home 500 Ranking points.
Ewald van Wyk moves to the top of Thursday League Standings on 146 points 3 shots ahead of Mark Borrajeiro on 143 points. Lyle Langley rounds up the Top 3 on 137 points. Simon Meyer and Paul Ricketts complete the top 5, 9 shots behind the Leader.
The League format is Individual Stableford, the player with the most points at the end of the season will win a Weekend Away at Nkonyeni Golf Estate!
Germiston is the 2nd Qualifying round for the 2nd Major of the Season, The Duckhook Masters taking place Friday the 4th of September at County Club Johannesburg’s Rocklands course.
