The Sunday League #Series1 Season restart after a 3 months break at Germiston Golf Club on Sunday the 12th of July.
This Season will now feature 8 League Events with 7 of 8 Rounds counting to the over League Standings!
A 7am start saw 76 Players brave the freezing cold temperatures as the sun began to come up over Germiston’s 18 hole layout. The condition proved to be challenging as Frikkie Barnard claimed his 3rd league career Title after submitting the Live Scoring leaderboard to be the only play to finish under Par on -1, 37 individual Stableford points. Starting on the back 9, Frikkie carded 7 Pars for 21 points including a run of 6 consecutive Pars from the Par 5 – 13th to the Par 3 – 18th. Moving onto the front nine on -3 Frikkie dropped a shot on the Par 4 – 4th hole but quickly claimed back the shot on the Par 4 – 6th with his 5th and final 3 pointer. Reaching his final hole, the Par 4 – 9th Frikkie enjoyed a 3 shot lead to secure the victory but unfortunately a Triple Bogey somewhat stained his scorecard but still finished the July Event on -1. Frikkie earning himself 550 Player Ranking points!
6 players tied for second place one stroke back on Even Par a testament to the close competition which Duckhook Tournaments provide.
10 Team Champions League Matches also featured on the day with the Group logs starting to tell the story of which Teams could progress to the Quarter-Finals.
2020 will Feature TWO Sunday Leagues, #Series1 and Series#2 giving golfers even more opportunity to enjoy Social Competition and the chance to compete on two separate League Standings.
#Series1 Tour Calendar now features 8 League events played at a different golf course in and around Gauteng. The League format is Individual Stableford, the player with the most points at the end of the season will win a Weekend Away at Nkonyeni Golf Estate!
The Tour also features 3 qualifying Majors which will see the Top 12 Ranked players from the 3 Gauteng Leagues qualify for the 32 to 40 player Medal Tournament.
Germiston starts the 2nd Qualifying Cycle for the 2nd Majors of the Season, The Duckhook Masters taking place on Friday the 4th of September at Country Club Johannesburg’s Rocklands Course.
